“Sir” “dr.” Péter Vásárhelyi

Péter Vásárhelyi usurped a coat of arms of the ancient Vásárhelyi family.

Péter Vásárhelyi is a fake Maltese knight and a self-proclaimed “security expert”, who is obsessively defaming gay advocates. Péter claims to have illustrious ancestors, but in fact he is of very modest descent. As we learned during a series of telephone conversations, Péter Vásárhelyi has four grandsons, two of them carry the name Vásárhelyi; Gergely and Botond. Despite his hope, neither one of them will continue to preserve the family name, because, as they reported to debunked, they discovered that the whole family history is made up, and that Péter is a fake Sir. As if that were not enough, Péter started legal proceedings against a perfectly legitimate Hungarian charity to prove that his family tree and order of knighthood were the only legitimate ones. The results were devastating for Péter’s already bad reputation.

On 9 July 2009, the Pest County Court in Budapest (Appeal Court), announced the final sentence with no possibility of appeal (Nr.: 2.Pf.20.886/2009/2) in the lawsuit of Péter Vásárhelyi against the prominent Federation of Autonomous Priories of the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem – Knights of Malta (KMFAP) questioning if the KMFAP was a fake Order or not. The Court of Appeal ratified the sentence given by the Court of First Instance (Vac Municipal Court). The court ruled that in view of documentation presented by the defendant KMFAP, both the legitimacy and validity of the Federation of Autonomous Priories are not to be labelled “questionable”, like Péter did.
